Gistaín is the village which gives the name to the Chistau valley, forming a pretty area alongside the villages of Plan and San Juan de Plan.

It maintains good examples of traditional mountain architecture, the church and the two defensive towers of Casa Tardán standing out. This house is a magnificent example of a fortified house from the 16th century Pyrenees.

From Gistaín you can carry out many well-signposted hiking excursions. There is also the possibility of doing mountain trecks around the Posets-Maladeta Park and the Cotiella massif, as well as around the valleys of Viadón and Tabernas and the mountain lake of Plan.

In Gistain there are shops, a dairy specializing in cheese and a family restaurant. In Plan, 5 km away, you will find all the necessary services: bakery, swimming-pool, doctor’s, chemist’s, shops and restaurants.
